The only octagonal sign in use. It requires a full stop every time, whether or not anyone else is at the intersection.
What to do
Stop behind the stop line. Where there is none, stop before the crosswalk; where there is neither, stop before the point where you can see cross traffic. Creeping through without the wheels stopping is a rolling stop and is still a violation.
